December 29th 2013 YoP update

Wow 2013 went by so fast!

No a great year for me and my family… But we survived it and I am happy to be seeing a new year upon is on Wednesday.

Over the next few days I will be thinking about long and short term projects that I want to try and accomplish in the knitting and crocheting world this up coming year…

With this YoP officially half finished, I am sure I will be able to make it to the end of June and look forward to rejoining for the 4th YoP!

This week I began this really cool test knit cowl for a fellow YoP participant… I will reveal ore in the coming weeks as it progresses and she gives me the ok to share!

I also pushed out two quick projects… After thought Christmas gifts for people.

There is this,

A Mohawk hat for a buddy of my older son. Now they have similar hats. Joseph’s (my older son) hat is all black with black ‘hair’. The one I made for his friend is a black hat with blue ‘hair’ to match his jacket.

Last night and earlier today I made this,

It is a toilet paper cozy for my friend who just moved into a house of her own with her hubby (newlyweds). She loves owls and I sent her a really weird text last night asking her what colours her bathrooms were.

Good thing “out-of-left-field” questions like that are normalish for me… Needless to say though she was thrilled to find out what my yammerings were all about when I texted her a picture of the completed project a short time ago.

Fore, that is all I have to share for the moment. I must go pay attention to the test knit now and work on it for a while tonight. I want it off my needles before I work on a sweater for me!

Take care! Happy crafting!

December 22nd 2013 YoP update

Better late than never!

*WARNING* this is a picture-heavy post.

First off… Merry Christmas to one and all! Since this post was to be made 3 days ago…. I have plenty if good reason as to why it wasn’t up….

Surely you have heard of the Toronto IceStorm already? Maybe you have even been effected by it…

Well… My home and immediate surrounding area was greatly effected by it… We lost power at 9:45pm Saturday night and did not get it back again until yesterday afternoon… Around 2pm… Thus making my home powerless for nearly 65hours. And making me rather frustrated…

My family and I pulled through but we are very happy to be sleeping in our own beds tonight….

The following photo does not do the storm justice… But at least it is pretty.

In knitting news… Two more of the test crochet patterns were published at some point last week and I can now share their photos with you.

This is a Hat Scarf. Click HERE for this link to my project page so that you can learn more about it. I gave it to my mom for her Birthday this past weekend.

This is a soft and squishy slouchy beanie that I have opted to keep for myself. Follows project page link HERE for more info about it.

Since last post I also made a quick and fast cowl for my son’s newest teacher… Here is a quick photo.

I literally knit three kinds of yarn at the same time on large needles (size 50 I think). Took only a couple of hours….

Using the same ideology for a quick hat and cowl set for my friends daughter… I produced this set (the model is none other than yours truely…)

Christmas knitting is officially over and given out! All recipients loved their knit wear…. Even my brother who was touched at the thought that I took. The time to make him something.

Before I go… I will leave you with this happy pic of the hubby and myself… Taken at Christmas Dinner today!

Until next time!

December 15th , 2013 YoP update

Not too much to blog about today… only that the sweater for my niece is finished!

It is cute… and a little big for her… so she will grow into it. it needs buttons too. Because it is black (the sweater), i am thinking i will get a set of 6 girlie, sparkly buttons. she will love that.

I have started another test crochet hat. It is pink and sparkly… very much out of my comfort zone. I also have a cowl I have to make as a last minute gift for a teacher I completely forgot about – can you feel my stress level rise? So out come the HUGE lion brand needles and three different types of yarn to be knit together all at the same time. I imagine that infinity scarf/cowl will be knit up in no time… it needs to be 🙂

So I leave you with a picture of my sweater that I finished… it is black and not bright or girlie – but I think the buttons I want will set it off perfectly.

Must dash – I am singing in my churches candlelight service tonight and I need to be there in a little less than half an hour.

December 8th, 2013 YoP update

This may be the first time in a long time that I do not have anything to show as finished… what’s up with that?

Did I sign on to any tests knits this week you ask? yep.. I did… not much to report on it yet though…. just finishing off the sweater for my Niece first…

One thing I can tell you is… it is a test knit for a gal in the Year of Projects group I am a part of on Ravelry… so I don’t want to give too much away 🙂 However, rest assured – when she says I can… I will.

The sweater for my niece should be done in a day or so… however rather exciting events happened to me over the last week that has legit distracted me from finishing the sweater off sooner.

Long story short – I began working at the York Region District School Board last week as an Educational Assistant. I am thrilled. It is such an amazing school board to work for!

Needless to say, I have been busy… and knitting – for the first time in a long time – has had to be set aside a little bit.

Off to bed now… as I have to work in the morning 🙂

December 1st, 2013 YoP update… Sorry so tardy…

But I have a good excuse!

I started back to work today… And spent much of yesterday running around in prep for it.

But don’t be sad… I did manage to get ahead with more knitting as well of some test crochet.

Here is a teaser pic of the test crochet that I have finished but am waiting for it to be published.

It is a hat and it is awesome.

Also… Once the test was completed… I headed head first into a sweater jacket for my niece for her b-day… It is a little better than a week away and I think I will be done in a few days.

Here is a copy of the patterns picture;

And you can find a link to the ravelry page for it here.

That is really all I have to report… As I was very dedicated to a couple of longer patterns this week…

Until next time!
